Wire Work Brooch

Shades of midnight blue faceted glass contrast with shiny silver wire

Inspire Me - Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette -

the famed, frivolous, and ultimately fated French Queen 

with her luxurious and lavish lifestyle - makes for some great inspiration.

The 2006 eponymous film, written and directed by Sofia Coppola, starring Kirsten Dunst 

is a fluffy sugar-frosted look at Marie Antoinette's hedonistic life.

Well worth a watch for the gorgeous period costumes, a sneaky peak into the palace of Versailles, and of course the stunning jewellery!

 Fans were the ladies accessory of choice in Marie Antoinette's time  and were highly decorative status symbols.

I think this charming fan dangle from Jilly Beads is just the thing for a  project based on the lavish lady.

Moroccan Spices

I made this necklace for my fiancé's mother. 
She wore it on her holidays to Morocco visiting  the souks and spice markets. 
This is my first attempt at making spirals, they are not the neatest but I think the 
non-uniformity is what gives hand made jewellery some of its  character and charm...;-)
